A freelance business and financial journalist, Kwesi Adu has called on the public to disregard the contents of a front page story from the Herald newspaper which sought to create impression that Governor Addison is unwell and thus left the management of the Bank to the Second Deputy Governor,Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi.
He says Governor Addison is very healthy and in full control at the Bank.
“I think the vile propaganda should stop. The contents of the story are false and without merit. I have followed the activities of the Bank, including monitoring their Monetary Policy Committee(MPC) Press Conferences on facebook. If the Governor is unwell, how will he be able to stand for an hour to read the MPC statement and also answer questions from the press. From my assessment, l think he is very healthy.I think the video is available on the internet for all to see.
“I have also attended events and programmes where the Governor was invited to deliver a speech. He looks very well. Since the publication of the story, l have engaged some former school mates who are employees of the Bank of Ghana to ascertain the veracity of the news story. The feedback is that the Governor is always at post and doesn’t spend his time abroad. The news that he is always outside the country on medical grounds is a lie.I am reliably informed that he reports to work very early in the morning and closes very late. ”
“I will urge the Governor Addison and his Management to focus on their work and not be destructed by the propaganda in some circles. l commend the Governor Addison led Management for financing the government in 2022, which has ensured that there is stability and no chaos in the country.”
3news.com also contacted sources within the BoG who also indicated that the governor is well.
“I am surprised because the Governor is well, I mean he comes to work, does his normal duties and so I don’t know where this is coming from,” the source who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
