B.O.T donates GHS 100k to support Mahama’s 2024 campaign

Chartered Economist and politician, Bernard Oduro Takyi (B.O.T) has donated GHS 100,000 to support the campaign of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H.E John Mahama, ahead of the 2024 elections.

Leading a group of NDC activists known as ‘BOT Joins NDC’, Mr Oduro Takyi and his wife, Jacqueline Takyi, made a presentation of the cheques to Mr Mahama at his Cantonment office on Wednesday, May 31,2023.

The funds were from B.O.T and his wife and supported by the group of NDC activists from the B.O.T Joins NDC group.

According to BOT, this is the first of many donations that would be done to support the NDC’s campaign into elections 2024.

Speaking to Power News after the meeting, the B.O.T pledged to mobilize funds to help various party activities.

Apart from supporting the campaign of Mr Mahama, the group also donated a cheque of GHS 110,000 to the former president to support the NDC activities in some selected constituencies.

The selected constituencies are without NDC MPs.

The constituencies include Sunyani West, Sunyani East, Berekum West, Hohoe, Essikado Ketan, Mpohor, Mfantsiman, Dome-Kwabenya.

The group is poised to support the party activities in eleven constituencies, Isaac Batun, the project coordinator said.

“When I came to the NDC, I realised that it is a big family and they welcome all manner of people and that is the reason I have to do everything to help the party’s cause ahead of the elections,” Oduro Takyi said.

Mr Mahama who was impressed after receiving the cheque commended BOT and his friends for the kind gesture.

The former president said he was ready to work hard and win the elections to create employment opportunities for the youth and “reset” the country’s governance.

Mr Mahama said the Akufo-Addo government has destroyed the country, making the future bleak hence the youth such as BOT ought to be relentless and work to bring the NDC to power.

In March this year, former President John Dramani Mahama launched a digitalized retail donation campaign platform to mobilize monies from Ghanaians both locally and from those in the diaspora to aid his 2024 campaign.

He explained that the channel for the donation amongst others includes an official Zenith bank account number, a John Mahama campaign mobile money number, USSD code and a John Mahama fundraising mobile App
