A Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor has said the NDC is winning the next general election in 2024.
He said the only thing that threatens the NDC’s victory is the Electoral Commission (EC).
He explained on the Sunrise Show with Johnnie Hughes on Tuesday, May 16 that the current EC is the most partisan commission that ever existed in Ghana.
“For the 2024 elections, the only thing between us and victory may be the electoral commission,” he stressed.
He also accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of appointing his party members to the Commission.
“I don’t even think President Akufo-Addo can use the security forces again in 2024. This is the most partisan Electoral Commission that ever existed in this country to the extent that the president had the temerity to appoint party activists into the offices of the Electoral Commission.
“All the new entrants that have been put in the Electoral Commission from 2019 have been solely selected based on the fact that they are party activists.
“Even if they were recruiting lower officials and they were considering party operatives, that may not be a problem but just recently, when the opportunity came to fill up the commission pure party activists, people we engage in radio discussions with have been appointed.”
