126 factories built under 1 District, 1 Factory – Ken Ofori-Atta

Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed that the One District One Factory (1D1F) policy has completed 126 factories since the government’s flagship programme was implemented.

While addressing Parliament during the Mid-Year Budget Review on Monday, July 31, 2023, Mr Ofori-Atta highlighted the significant progress made in Ghana’s economy and pointed to the policy as one that has helped in Ghana’s economic recovery.

He announced that the 1D1F has been able to offer and equip over 160,000 youth with the capabilities to operate agro-processing factories in 58 districts.

“Mr Speaker, in line with government’s unwavering commitment to industrialisation, the implementation of the flagship One District One Factory (1D1F) Initiative is on course,” he said.

As of June 2023, 126 factories were operational nationwide. Over 160,000 direct and indirect jobs have been created, especially for the youth who have been mobilised to establish agro-processing factories in 58
districts

Although he did not disclose the various locations of these factories, he was quick to explain that their establishment has created sustainable jobs for the youth of the country and reduced unemployment in the country.

He added that despite the economic challenges, the government’s unwavering commitment to industrialisation through the implementation of the One District One Factory Initiative is on course.
