A philanthropic group, the Kofi Job Foundation, has intervened to settle the medical bills of 300 patients in three major hospitals within the greater Kumasi area in the Ashanti Region.
Authorities at the Manhyia, Kumasi South, and Tafo Government Hospitals had lamented the huge debt pile-up arising from some patients who are unable to settle their medical bills after treatment.

The inability of some patients to settle their medical bills when treated continues to take a toll on the finances of these health facilities.
This is also impacting negatively on healthcare delivery at these major facilities like Tafo Hospital, Manhyia Government Hospital, and Kumasi South Hospital.
The situation, according to hospital authorities, affects their revenue mobilization and procurement of adequate medical equipment.

Administrator at the Kumasi South Hospital, Gyamfi Yeboah, disclosed that “In some instances, treated and discharged patients abscond without paying their bills. This affects the finances of the hospital. As we speak, when we computed the bills of those who have bolted, it is in excess of 170,000 Ghana cedis.”
Responding to this, a philanthropic group, Kofi Job Foundation, has presented one million Ghana cedis to Tafo, Manhyia, and Kumasi South hospitals to settle the outstanding medical bills of over 300 patients and also help the facilities procure some essential medical tools.

Founder of the Kofi Job Foundation, Kofi Job Gyebi, was saddened by the lack of essential medical equipment at some of the hospitals he visited.
He said, “Some of the hospitals lack essential equipment like incubators to take care of the infants. It is a very worrying situation. I am also doing my part with the little I have to help the situation. We don’t have to rely solely on the government to provide everything. Let’s also do our part, and I will appeal to the well-to-do in society to help our hospitals.”
The mother of a 3-year-old cancer patient who was struggling to get 60,000 Ghana cedis for the treatment of her daughter couldn’t control her tears when she unexpectedly benefited from the philanthropic gesture.
“I didn’t know where to go to raise that huge amount for the surgery. I was just counting on God for a miracle, and a miracle indeed has arrived in a timely manner. May God bless him for this intervention,” Ernestina Kwaw spoke with emotions.
For Kofi Gyebi and his wife, Dr. Esther Gyebi, Founders of Kofi Job Foundation, the blessings that come with extending a helping hand to the needy are what drive him to do more.
“I will continue to support the needy in any way I can until the day I depart from this earth. I entreat the privileged in society to do the same because God didn’t bless us to only provide for our family members but the disadvantaged as well,” Kofi Gyebi reaffirmed.
