NPP flagbearer aspirant and MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said he will not hesitate to call members of his party foolish if need be.
The maverick politician is on a nationwide campaign tour, meeting his party delegates in a bid to be the presidential candidate of the NPP. In one of his interactions with NPP delegates in Berekum in the Bono Region, Agyapong said he has not regretted calling out wayward members of the Dombo-Danquah-Busia tradition.
Explaining to the delegates why he went beserk and described NPP members as foolish, he said a meeting that happened between the senior presidential advisor, Yaw Osafo Maafo, and some NPP members was secretly recorded and handed to the opposition NDC which caused confusion in the party.
“Honourable Osafo Maafo met party members at Koforidua and was talking to them about the history of the party and the role the Akyems played in the establishment of the party. He at a point noted that the Akyems played a more important role in the party than the Ashantis and they recorded him,” he narrated.
The vociferous MP went on to say “Those who recorded Osafo Maafo sent the tape to pro-NDC newspapers and radio stations and blew the issue up.”
He recollected how angry he was when the tape was played to him when he appeared on Adom TV as a panel member on one of their political shows and had to lambast NPP members en mass.
he wondered what motive was behind that act and hastened that he will not miss the opportunity to lambast NPP members if a similar issue happens again.
