The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in any form of electoral misconduct as the December elections approach. He emphasized that offenders will face the full force of the law.
Speaking at the commissioning of a new police station in Akyem-Manso in the Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare assured Ghanaians of the police service’s readiness to ensure peaceful elections. He outlined measures to detect and address early warning signs of potential unrest.
“Don’t be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my people will not spare you. Don’t forget that the people who will lure you to create confusion will switch off their phones when you are arrested. They will simply abandon you,” he warned.
The IGP urged citizens to exercise their voting rights peacefully, emphasizing respect for the democratic process and the rights of others.
He reassured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, creating a secure environment for free and fair elections.
“We are fully prepared, and I can assure you that the elections will be peaceful,” Dr. Dampare affirmed, calling on all Ghanaians to support efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
